ive been djing occassionally at small parties for about 2 years now, using an hercules rmx mixer wired direct to my amp.
i recently wired up my system and added a behringer ub1002 mixer between the hercules and the amp.  the sound seemed richer and crisper and certainly louder.
is there any technical benefit from doing this? and, conversely, is there any reason why i shouldnt do it?

Hello,

1) DJ Console Rmx output level is
- louder on its 1/4" output 1-2 (+4dBu output level)
- than on its dual RCA output 1-2 (-10dBv output level),
so if you prefer a loud output level, you should use DJ Console Rmx 1/4" outputs instead of using the RCA outputs.

2) I also often use a small analog mixer with my DJ controllers.

Interfacing the UB1002 mixer has 3 benefits
- you can add 2 microphones, and set the EQ on the microphones,
- you can connect additional audio gears, for example a smartphone when someone in the audience ask you to play a music stored on one's smartphone,
- you have an additional master volume and master EQ setting,
so if you are happy with it, you should keep it.

The possible limit you may find in adding mixer is that, if you turn the potentiometers of the mixer UB1002, it makes audible noise while turning the pots, so to avoid it, you should set the proper levels and EQs on UB1002 before starting a live performance, and not touch USB1002 pots during a live performance.
