ableton live support needed

hello!

virtual dj and traktor are well represented on the hercules site and highly compatible with the rmx. ableton lives nowhere in sight. i work with live almost exclusively. it works very well with the rmx as far as midi assignment and soundcard performance are concerned, but is lacking the default midi message support back to the rmx to light up the buttons and all the fancy stuff.sometimes a midi message from a previously saved file (mapped to another device) throws on a light that will not turn off until you unplug/replug the rmx, so it is possible, just not mapped by default.  id like to see ableton live to be represented on the hercules support site similar to trakor support - something that the live user could load and make it just work like traktors tks file. lives preferences window does have an area where the default mappings for popular controllers are there for the clicking. one click sets up the device - trigger finger, evolution, etc. maybe the rmx could be represented there with a call (or envelope full of money) over to ableton?

Hi,

We like Abelton Live too, but for the moment, it cannot manage the LEDs and MIDI mapping as Traktor does.

You can create a loopback MIDI track (with the Rmx as both  MIDI In and Out), so that when you press a button , it's associated LED will lit up, but it will be turned off as you release the button. Live just doesn't have any ways to configure and manage the MIDI output configuration as it does for inputs. It's probably something they will add eventually.

As for having the Rmx as par of the list of default mapping, it would indeed be great, but after looking at the documentation for other devices, nothing indicates that the LEDs are being used on them as well.

Thanks so much for your response. The loopback MIDI track in live did the trick for the LEDs, at least on the push down as you said. That's certainly better than nothing!

Peace,

Listenupza,

As I said before, Ableton Live doesn't save MIDI mapping in the same way Traktor does. It saves the MIDI configuration (Along with the soundcard, library and FX settings) inside of the entire session. This makes sharing a little complicated.

The best way to go would be to create a template session for yourself, set everything as you like and save it. You'll then be able  to start from that session everytime.

Any way you can maybe send me the midi remote script you have for the RMX on Ableton.
