Could you be a little more specific about what exactly you are try to do , as people often get confuse when they refer to "external mixer" ?

If you want to use the Rmx :

- to control all the function of the software ( cross fader, EQ, FX, etc)
- so the soundcard outputs both your main mix and headphone preview

Then this would be called Internal mixing by Traktor, and your console should be configured as explained in the following document:

ftp://ftp.hercules.com/sound/TDJS/current/TP_DJ_Rmx.zip

If however you want to use the Rmx so that it controls some functions of the software BUT you want the soundcard to send Deck A and Deck signal to 2 distinct channels on to a mixing board that you would use to apply EQ, and connect your headphone, then you can basically follow the same procedure as mentioned before, but with this difference:

When setting OUTPUT ROUTING, be sure to select EXTERNAL for MIXING MODE. This will change the way the channels are displayed. Then, set

- Output Channel A : Output 1/2

- Output Channel B : Output 3/4

This way, each deck will sent its signal to thei specific channels.

All that I want to do at the moment is be able to cue a track and listen to it before I select and then choose my start point through my headphones without disrupting the master track.

I've configured Traktor according to the document that you led me to and I still can't preview tracks through my headphones without the track playing through the main speakers.

1 and 2 are assigned to Output master L and F, 3 and 4 are assigned to Output Monitor Land F on the output routing option.

In the Input routing page Input channel A is set to Hercules DJ Console RMX Aggregate 1 to the Left and HercDJ RMX Agg 2 to the right.

Input channel B is set to HercDJ RMX 3 to the left and 4 to the right.

I've applied the tks files from Hercules and still no joy.

I still can't preview tracks through my headphones.

Any more help please?

Just to be sure , regarding the Outputs, they are also assigned to Hercules DJ Console RMX Aggregate devices as well, correct?

Did you install the latest drivers (1.36) available from the support site ?

This driver corrected a bug introduced by OS X 10.5.7, which I presume you are probably using.

Installing the driver wont do any harm but what i recommend to anyone who is having this same issue (which i was having but have now resolved it 30 minutes ago) is:

Step 1: Load the latest .TKS file into traktor (which is a MIDI profile.. once loaded all your MIDI controls will do something) which can be found on the Hercules site here:

http://ts.hercules.com/eng/index.php?pg=view_files&gid=2&fid=28&pid=177&cid=5

(to load them go Preferences -> hotkeys & MIDI setup -> MIDI setup -> Load)

Step 2: Now all of the functions might not do what they are supposed to do but it did fix the 'cue + headphone' issues for me and i'm now able to cue my tracks and hear them in the headphones etc.. as for the rest of the functions that are doing crazy sh!t, you can manually learn them like i did in:

Preferences -> hotkeys & MIDI setup -> MIDI setup

The following link will also help you A LOT! As it tells you a few of the function names for traktor and the function numbers for each Hercules buttons, knobs & faders:

ftp://ftp.hercules.com/sound/TDJS/current/TP_DJ_Rmx.zip  (Thank you to DJ Phatso)

I've also downloaded everything in case some time in the future they are no longer available. If needed you can contact me using facebook by searching 'Tommy Damani World Domination' and be clear about what you want and make sure you refer to this post. Copying this post link and pasting to me will also help refresh the old memory.

Good luck!

Hi all, I've followed the instructions i've found here and everything seems to work well (i just have to fix the control mappings still) but I have an additional question.  WIll i be able to add a pair of MIDI fighters to my set up in traktor in addition to the RMX controller and will this require any extra work to make it function?

tommydamani, you posted a link to the mapping file for the hercules MK2, if you are using the RMX like I am, then you can find a mapping file that will work withoutntoo much configuring here  http://ts.hercules.com/eng/index.php?pg=view_files&gid=17&fid=62&pid=215&cid=5

Indeed, using multiple will require a bit a work. This site will help:

you can check this by going to help > about traktor

you need version 1.11 or higher to use the midi profile.
