MP3 format becoming freer

Fraunhofer Institute has announced yesterday their patenting for MP3 format has been terminated.
https://www.iis.fraunhofer.de/en/ff/amm/prod/audiocodec/audiocodecs/mp 3.html

It means that companies or people using MP3 format do not have to pay a licence to Fraunhofer, as for example DJ software playing back MP3 files.
It does not mean all MP3 patents have become free: you may still have to pay for a patent when using an algorithm to encode or decode an MP3 file, but the use of MP3 format is free.
