If the firmware updater displays the Rmx in boot mode (it is normal the Rmx is in boot mode if you press the Mic button), I think you may able to reflash your eeprom in the Rmx, without opening it and going through an eeprom burner.

What is the Mac OS version on your 3-year old iMac?

For what I have seen, reflashing the eeprom out of the DJ controller is the solution when the DJ controller is not even detected by the firmware updater program, but if
1) the firmware updater program sees the controller,
2) and if you connect the DJ controller to the Mac or the PC through a USB 2 hub which has a power adapter,
it should work, so if you can tell me your Mac OS version, I can try on my side, and film the Macbook screen so that you see what should happen (I don't mean the same must happen on your side,, as we have different computers and cable, it is just for information).

On the Macbook Air with Mac OS 10.11 and USB 3.0 ports I have tested, I have see the DJ Console Rmx, which was not detected when connected via its USB cable, become detected again when applying 2 changes
solution A) adding a USB 2.0 hub which has a power adapter: DJ Console Rmx detected again
solution B) replacing the USB cable by a shorter USB cable (5-feet (1.5m) long) instead of the original longer USB cable: DJ Console is detected again.

1) Please confirm if you have tested your Rmx on a Mac which has no USB 3 ports (if it is a 2009 MacBook Pro, it should be USB 2.0 ports).
2) I have sent you an invitation, please accept it here (it is needed to be able to send messages in the message area) and send me a message there asking for the Rmx firmware file.

By the way, VirtualDj 5 DJC, the software included in DJ Console Rmx, is not supported in Mac OS 10.11.

Regardig the firmware update process: getting 0 for the controller firmware when you set the Rmx in boot mode is normal, the pdf manual showing it as "boot" is not up to date.
The pdf manual has difference with the actual process, the folder path to the manual update should be
Applications > DJHERCULESMIX > DJSeries > updater > manual_update.app

Please confirm it is the manual update process you actually use.
The patch to load the RMX_TUSB.dja file should then be
Applications > DJHERCULESMIX > DJSeries > updater >

MISLEADING - but not blaming anyone - just frustrating doing all this work and getting the same results.  almost seems like I need to somehow  wipe it clean and do the firmware update again because it seems like the audio works - then in the end the updater hangs and says it didn't load all the file.  

Looking online I see that I can't get anything near as good as the RMX for 1-200 dollars and THAT SUCKS! Anyhow, I friended you in the friend zone and am awaiting advice.

I have noticed I get the same message as you get ("Bulk transfer to the device failed during TUSB update") if the firmware inside my Rmx is newer than the firmware you try to load.
As there is on Windows a newer firmware than on Mac, you may have a newer firmware in your Rmx than in the folder Applications > DJHERCULESMIX > DJSeries > updater >.

1) I used the private messaging area with dagobeard to post a link to a firmware file matching dagobeard technical issue. I never post links to a firmware file in the forum area, as most users problems are not related to the firmware, and if people try to flash the firmware on a computer whose USB ports are too weakly powered, they may damage their DJ controller and worsen their technical issue.

2) Hercules support is there; you can call Hercules and they will support you if you refrain from interacting with them as you did with me: since your messages of 10/21/15, I will not try to help you any longer.

Hi,
After reading throught his tread (and many others) i believe i have a badly flashed eeprom firmware update.
I have tried..
2 types of driver package from hercules
5 different pcs/laptops
USB powered hub
removing windows ablilty to lower the power to usb in device manager


all of which are not producing any progress to being able to install a driver in windows that will connect my RMX.

All that happens is that i get a RMX flashing blue buttons on and off and i cant do a firmware update untill it is recognised as a device in windows.

I am an engineer in video products and am not shy in opening up the console to find the eeprom chip that Maxdjack ahs described.

I am prepared to flash it, but need the file that has been mentioned. I have sent a friend request and await any help that can be offered.
