Axelpose,

Writing that, as the technical support could not provide you a solution, it means
- they don't care,
- they told you to use it as a very expensive decoration object without any function
is not true.

I have sent you an invitation for the the message exchange.

Maxdjack,
I had a phone call with the technical support and their answer was, my controller, which is broken by the badly written firmware update, can not be repaired. And as I asked the support guy, if that means that now I have a expensive decoration object withouth function, he said, he would not say it this way, but yes, that's true.
I just refuse to accept that their firmware update breaks my console and they are not willing to take responsibility for it.

What invitation did you send me ? I did not get an invitation from you.

Hello Axel,

1) How have you contacted the technical support: by email or by phone?
Have you re-tried updating the firmware while being on phone with a technician of the technical support?

2) The problem did not occur because of a badly firmware update, as the firmware update works well on most computers, the problem occurs on some computer because of an accident during the firmware update, whether the accident is caused
- by a too low power supply on the USB port,
- or by the firmware updater being interrupted during the operation for many reasons: unplugging the cable, an antivirus stopping the operation...

Considering that because the firmware update fails on your computer, it means the written firmware update was badly written is a biased explanation: it would be 100% true if 100% users had the same issue, but it is not so true if 99% users can do the firmware update without meeting this issue. On my side, I did not reproduce the firmware issue you have met either on my MacBook (with a DJConsole 4-Mx) or on my PC (with my DJConsole Rmx).

3) Invitations are sent in going to the page of another member, yours is here, and clicking on "Add to my friends".
You receive the invitation in My Space > My Friends. If you accept the invitation, it is possible to exchange messages on the website by out of the forum.

If anyone has the following problem:
Automatic Firmware Updater went wrong, since then RMX Console is only recognized as Unknown USB Device with Vendor Id 0451 and Product ID 3200, which is a Texas Instrument Chip, which is probably used inside.

Here is the solution, thanks to MaxDJack for his help.

A screwdriver and a EEPROM Programming Device is needed.  There is NO NEED to remove the sliders or knobs !!
You need to dismantle the console, by removing the 6 long screws on the upper side to the left and the right.
Then all the small black screws on the left and the right side.
Finally on the lower side some small black screws need to be removed and two silver ones
which are partly hidden by the feet of the console, which need to be removed, too.

Then remove the EEPROM, which is a HT24LC64.
To reflash it, you need the image file which you can get from MaxDJack or me.
Flash the binary data to the EEPROM and reinstall the EEPROM into its socket.

If you do not know what I am talking about, you better ask someone who has knowledge on electrical engineering.

Hello Axel,Maxdjack. I have an Hercules 4 MX and I came across this issue. It asked me to upgrade the firmware by pluggin the device holding the MIC button. Once the upgrade of the Audio had finished, it asked to unplug & plug the device again. After that the device was not recognised to no other pc or MAC I tried to. I am waiting for the tech support to get back to me but I doubt if there could be any solution to my problem.
I have a background on computer & software engineering, however I am an expert only on software and have basic skills on hardware. Axel  I would like to know if the solution  can be applied to my controller and if so, could you please let me know if you could send me the image file so I can try and flash it with a colleague of mine whose an expert on hardware(if the answer from tech support is negative of course)

Hello Dagobeard,

1) I have sent you a message, but I don't know if it is relevant for your Rmx so I suggest that before updating the firmware, you precise
- your operating system, and your computer model and configuration,
- what you have done up to now which makes you think your Rmx has the same firmware issue.
Mac OS 10.11 on some USB 3.0 ports (MacBook Air & Pro, Mini, Mac iMac, but no Mac Pro) has the same symptoms with Rmx, while the firmware is OK: a workaround is to add a USB 2 hub with a power adapter.

2) You have no reason to be upset with Hercules tech support if you don't contact them.
If you had contacted the tech support (by mail or by phone), I am sure that, after checking with you that your Rmx needed it, they would have sent you the firmware file if it is adequate for your Rmx.

These eeprom files are available on request, not online, to avoid that customers
- reflash their firmware in cases where it is not needed,
- try to update the eeprom with a non proper eeprom burner,
and you cannot find eeprom files either on Numark-NoteRepeat/PioneerDJ/Rane websites.
You must contact the technical support to access to this type of files.

C) If I can provide some help here, it is thanks to the help of Hercules tech support, since they:
- sent me the firmware binaries when I asked,
- told me which type of eeprom burner can be used, so I know you can use an 24 series eeprom burner as
 . this burner,
 . or this model,
 . or this one.

WOW man (or woman) EXACTLY! My same issue.  Same as many.  OF course I'd love to try to flash the eprom instead of shelling out another 200 dollars for another controller when the RMX is solid as Fock, and I am really used to the layout.  So is that what you are gonna do? Get your hands on a cheap eprom burner and do this yourself?  You could probably open a small business just with reading the posts on this board for the people who need this done. (Not to GENERALIZE, Maxdjack, I know this isn't the solution to everyone's RMX WOES...)
LOL
peace out
