Ikutaro Kakehashi, father of MIDI and founder or Roland, has died on 2017-04-01.
On Namm Show in January 1983, Roland and Sequential Circuits unveiled the Universal Musical Interface technology, whose name became MIDI ((Musical Instrument Digital Interface) later, in showing the communication between 2 synthesizers, a Sequential Circuits Prophet 600 and a Roland JX-3P. Ikutaro Kakehashi (former president of Roland) and Dave Smith (former president of Sequencial Circuits) were awarded a Technical GRAMMY in 2013 for contributions to the development of MIDI.
The many uses of MIDI include the communication between DJ controllers and DJ software on Windows, Linux, macOS and iOS.
We offer our most sincere condolences to Ikutaro Kakehashi family.
