How to Update Your VirtualDJ DJC version?

If you have a DJ Control MP3, DJ Console Mk2 (VirtualDJ Edition), DJ Control Steel or DJ Console Rmx, you can download an update of VirtualDJ DJC by:
1)  registering on VirtualDJ website http://www.virtualdj.com/users/register.html

2) in the registration, typing your VirtualDJ DJC 3 or VirtualDJ DJC 5 serial number (you must use your own serial number, since there is only 1 registration per serial number)

3) and afterwards, when you enter in VirtualDJ update area http://www.virtualdj.com/download/updates.html you can see the last update to download.

Today, the last available updates are:
- for DJ Control MP3 / DJ Console Mk2: VirtualDJ DJC 3.4.1
- for DJ Console Rmx / DJ Control Steel: VirtualDJ DJC 5.2.1

Remarks:
- An update is not a upgrade: an update is for free, and you keep a VirtualDJ DJC Edition, you don't get a VirtualDJ Pro version. If you want to get VirtualDJ Pro version, you must buy an upgrade.
- There are no updates for VirtualDJ DJC 1 which was bundled with DJ Console Mk1.

How can I use 2 microphones with DJ Console Rmx?

If you need 2 microphones, 1 for the deejay, 1 wireless for the audience, then you have 3 solutions:

  • if you use only 1 microphone at a time, which is the most standard situation, then you plug the wireless receiver on the microphone input on the front panel of DJ Console Rmx, and you keep for the deejay the microphone input on the top panel, so that the deejay can replace at any moment the wireless microphone by the other microphone in pluging the microphone down in the top panel and the deejay reactivates the wireless microphone in removing the microphone from the plug on the top panel.
  • if you want to use 2 microphones at the same time, the easiest solution is to plug the DJ Console Rmx output into an analogue mixer (a DJ mixer for example) or an analogue console, and to  plug 1 microphone into the DJ Console Rmx and 1 microphone into a the analogue mixer.
  • You can also use a receiver for 2 microphones, and plug this receiver into a microphone plug on DJ Console Rmx.

Where can I update VirtualDJ DJC 5?

An update is a change for a newer version of VirtualDJ DJC 5: the first version of VirtualDJ DJC 5 included in DJ Console Rmx is 5.0.7, and an update is downloadable on VirtualDJ website.
- Updating VirtualDJ DJC 5 is free: you can download a newer version of VirtualDJ DJC Edition at no cost with your serial number of VirtualDJ DJC 5.
- To download an update, you must register on VirtualDJ website http://www.virtualdj.com with your VirtualDJ registration number (in the format: XXXX-XXXX-XXXXX) sticked on the paper enveloppe of your installation CD. Go in VirtualDJ download area, and download the new version of VirtualDJ DJC Edition.

An upgrade is not the same operation as an update: an upgrade is a change for a bigger software, for example an upgrade to VirtualDJ Pro 5.
The upgrade from VirtualDJ DJC 5 to VirtualDJ Pro 5 costs USD 149 + VAT on VirtualDJ website and this special price also requires to register on VirtualDJ website with VirtualDJ DJC 5 registration number.

= VirtualDJ DJC 5 (with DJ Console Rmx)

Can I use 2 microphones and 2 headphones on DJ Console Rmx?

No, you can connect only 1 stereo headphone and 1 mono microphone to DJ Console Rmx at the same time.

If you plug 2 microphones, 1 on the top panel and 1 on the front panel,
  • the microphone plugged on the top panel will be active,
  • the microphone on the front panel will be muted as long as the microphone of the top panel has not been removed.

If you plug 2 headphones, 1 on the top panel and 1 on the front panel,
  • the headphone plugged on the top panel is the active one,
  • the headphone on the front panel is muted as long as the headphone of the top panel has not been removed.

Why there is no playback of the mix in computer integrated speakers with DJ Console Rmx or DJ Console Mk2

VirtualDJ DJC 3 (bundled with DJ Console Mk2) or 5 (bundled with DJ Console Rmx) play sound only on DJ Console Mk2/Rmx integrated audio interface, so with this software, the mix is always played on DJ Console Mk2/Rmx output 1-2 and the monitoring is always played on DJ Console Mk2/Rmx headphones output.

To hear your mix in your integrated speakers, you can:
  • connect DJ Console Mk2/Rmx output 1-2 to the line input of your computer, with a stereo audio cable,
  • or buy another DJ software, as VirtualDJ Pro, to select your integrated speakers as audio output,
but buying external speakers would probably be better, since speakers integrated in computers are
  • not powerful enough to host a party,
  • not good enough to prepare a party as their bandwidth is too limited (no bass, limited treble)
so the music will sound different once played on public address speakers.
