Thankyou for the Firmware and Pdf but its not fixed it.

I have the usual problem with the lights flashing on and off.

Iv updated the eeprom to the RMX_TUSB_v32.BIN and still the lights are flashing.

It is still showing up as unknown device and when I force install the midi drivers I get error code 10.

I have used a shorter usb cable and a powered hub and that has not fixed it.

Please could you suggest any other things I could try

Many Thanks TinyUK

Hello,

1) Please describe you computer : brand / model / version of Windows 10 / type of USB (2.0, 3.0, 3.1)
The best place to complete it is My Space > My Profile ( https://www.herculesdjmixroom.com/en-us/account/  in "Describe your equipment" .

2) Have you tested your Rmx on another computer: if you did, what was the result?
You must always recheck the eeprom contents after burning it since if you are not familiar with your eeprom burner program, it is highly likely the full code was not well written on the eeprom: burning eeprom is not as simple as installing drivers, so if you are not familiar with it, ask an electronic repair shop to write the eeprom for you.

I am fully aware of how to programme EEprom chips and have done all the checks after burning. The Rmx was baught from a friend who told me it worked fine several years ago.

I have even baught a new eeprom chip and burnt the .bin file and it has the same outcome.

No matter what pc I try it on it always does the same. lights flashing on and off and unknow device. error 10

I have even checked the whole board for blown capacitors and resitors. also tested the crystal ocliator and other conponetnts with my multimeter.

I am at a total stop and cant get my heads round it. I have spent hours googling erros and forum pages and still it doesnt work.

Is this always a eeprom - firmware problem with the flashing lights?

OK,

1) Please confirm the shorter USB cable you have tried has z relatively fat cable section (well shielded), in the style of:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/LINDY-1m-USB-2-0-Cable/dp/B001G5SDY8/
https://www.amazon.co.uk/LINDY-36641-Type-Cable-Cromo/dp/B07F6Y7VP9/

2) No, continuously flashing lights on DJ Console Rmx do not mean there is a firmware problem, they mean the device gets some power from the USB without terminating its initialization via the computer host.
Windows error 10 message does not say much, it says the device cannot start, but it does not say why.

3) Let's focus on the Windows 7 device, since as it is a USB 2 computer, it should not have any of the issues caused by Windows USB 3 update (on the USB 3 Windows 10 PC, testing specifically on USB 2 ports is not as relevant as, since Windows 8.1 USB 3 driver update, if Windows loads the USB 3 driver layer, it causes the same enumeration issues on USB 2 ports on the PC). Please test with no other USB device connected, I got once a similar issue caused by a USB mice which was working but had a minor shortcut preventing the enumeration of USB devices connected after it.

4) What is your USB hub model? Please confirm it has a power adapter.

Ok so Nothing worked and found out my win 7 laptop had usb 3.0.

So Iv pulled out an old desktop with usb 2.0 only and installed windows 10. I dont have a copy of win 7 to hand at the mo.

I have bought the new usb A to B shielded 1m cable.

I also bought a usb Y splitter and powered it from a 5v 2a power supply.

Still not getting anywhere with the lights still flashing.

What else could this problem be Im almost at the point of binning this thing

Thanks Russ

Hello,

Windows 10 with USB 2.0 is as good as Windows 7 for testing.

I am not sure of what you call a USB Y splitter
- if it is a USB hub (USB 2 or USB 3, with a power adapter), it is OK,
- if it is a cable split, as this or this
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tomost-Splitter-Adapter-USB3-0-Extension-1-Female-2-Male/dp/B07DS2RJY1/
https://www.amazon.com/Splitter-Charger-Female-Extension-Adapter/dp/B07S8XC8PK/
please do not use it, the computer bus power sends the clock used to boot the DJ Console Rmx, so if the bus power is not clocked by the computer, the Rmx cannot boot on the computer.

Hello,

In the Amazon photo I do not see the power adapter, but as there is a thumbnail on the box with a 2A power adapter, I guess you have 1 included and this USB hub should be OK.

Hello,

Sorry but I am afraid it is a hardware defect since if it starts on no computer, it is not a driver issue or a USB issue, and if you have reflashed the eeprom, it is not a firmware issue.
